Greetings to November 2009. It's that month! It's THANKSgiving, the time when we all (I'm being tentative here...) maybe remember to begin to feel grateful for whatever we have in our lives — rather than focusing on what we DON'T have. Also you might remember that research shows that if you acknowledge your past successes, you put the movement toward future success through feelings of confidence for your accomplishments. Maybe you'd like to remember those who have helped you along the way in your path. Maybe you'd like to take some time to appreciate your body and how well it functions, even when you aren't telling it what to do! All your organs just keep buzzing along - kidneys, liver, heart, stomach, pancreas. Or maybe every time you lament for what you don't have, what you wish you had, you can make a U-turn and go back to what you DO have, and how grateful you are for all those things... Just a thought here for you to ponder during this 'thank you' month...

Did you know that feelings of gratitude change us on a cellular level? They do, according to Joan Borysenko, world-renowned expert in mind/body medicine. She says that a sense of peace and gratitude is accompanied by biochemical changes in our neuropeptides, immune system and cardiovascular system that are consistent with health and well-being. Bruce Lipton, M.D.'s work in the new science, Epigenetics has shown that cellular changes in the body occur, defying genetics, when the environment you create through your thoughts or spirit promotes a sense of peace and wellbeing. You can change your genetic makeup when you make efforts to live a loving, grateful, peaceful life. You do not have to be a victim of all the genes you carry around, that your family has passed on to you, that you feel have doomed you to certain diseases. A very specific action you can take to remedy these unconscious worries or beliefs (thoughts you think over and over become beliefs) at regular times during the day is to remember to have deep feelings of thankfulness, appreciation - for anything!!! Blue skies, the earth turns on its axis, rain comes to help the crops, your feet that carry where you want to go...
I recently heard Bruce Lipton in an interview say that emotions are symptoms that we should pay attention to because we are able to change our biology. He compares our body talking to us to a dashboard of a car. Certain lights go on to tell us that our car is overheating, for example. So we pull over and let things cool down. Same with our anger - we could pull over, shift our energy, change our breathing patterns, begin gratitudes, and start saying thank-you's. You will, without forcing or 'trying' start to shift the energetic makeup inside of you. When we change our thoughts we change our environment, whether within us or outside of us. And, we shift our energetic makeup as well by tapping into the unconscious mind in a very subtle manner. By the way, the subconscious mind functions 90-95% of the time alternately, our conscious mind (that which we are aware of) may control our biology, or run our lives about 5% of the time!!! This is pretty astounding and alarming! Recalling the Law of Attraction, when we focus attention on what we are grateful for, the more we are given to have gratitude for. Gratitude attracts grateful abundance into our lives. So, my message this Thanksgiving month is to BE GRATEFUL!!! BE GREAT!!! SEND THANKS EVERYWHERE, CHANGE YOUR BIOLOGY BY CHANGING YOUR THOUGHTS. Let us tap on this gratitude issue. Remember, take a rating of your level of negative thoughts or feelings about being grateful. Maybe you think you don't have much to grateful for or you have negative feelings that are blocking your appreciation. You might feel inadequate, or resentful, unworthy. You can tap on these things and clear a path for yourself. Take a rating of how appreciative or grateful you feel right now. If it is low, this tapping will help you. If you remain stuck, and the number doesn't change, tap again and again until blocks you have inside begin to emerge. If not, please call me (561) 401-9002, or e-mail me nancy@forwardactioncoach.com. 2 Rounds – Tap 5-7 times on each of the 8 places (Inner Eye, Outer Eye, Under Eye, Under Nose, Middle of Chin, Collar Bone, Under Arm, Top Of Head) continually and say the following at each place:
Setup Statement (tapping on karate chop place or sore spot)
- Even though I do not have a thing I can think of to feel appreciation for right now, I deeply and profoundly accept myself and I accept my feelings anyway.
Even though I don't have enough and am angry about that, I choose to feel grateful anyway.
Even though I am not enough either, I choose to think about what there is about me that is good and I send appreciation toward those things - and give myself permission to release these negative feelings.
Round 1 (inner eye, outer eye, under eye, etc.)
- IE: I am certain that I don't have enough
- OE: I am sure that I am not enough either, and feel pretty stuck
- UE: I can't imagine what could be grateful for
- UN: I see so much scarcity around me in my life
- MC: I always want more and don't ever have enough
- CB: It seems like they always have more
- UA: I feel so gloomy about this and feel that I deserve more
- TH: I always feel so much conflict
Round 2
- IE: I wonder if I could see the abundance around me
- OE: How would it be if I allow myself to appreciate whatever good is in my life
- UE: There is more good than I realized!
- UN: I can see how prosperous life can be and that I enjoy it when it's there
- MC: I am willing to feel more gratitude right now
- CB: I am beginning to appreciate the abundance that I can see around me
- UA: I know that abundance is good for everyone and I can start to see it more
- TH: It is good to know that I can change my vibrations and begin to feel better

Ruff (bark) ruff... Well, two months later, surgery over, healing is taking place and I have been swimming! Even in the ocean. Supposed to be good for me, they say. So I'm now the bionic dog, with two metallic hind legs and I'm ready to fly!!! Run into the surf, leap over the waves, dive in! Put my teeth around the most important item ever created... a yellow tennis ball. No, MY tennis ball. Gratitude? Roo Roo!!! I've got lots of it this month and intend to tell all the other canines on the beach how lucky they are, too.
And now, Simla II. Here she is posing at a recent fund-raiser in town. She has become quite the celebrity with that coat on. It says Volunteer Puppy Raising Program. She is NOT volunteering, that's for sure. She gets fed very well, draws huge amounts of attention from the crowds everywhere she goes. Some very generous woman in a restaurant gave Nancy a donation to the program, cash, on the spot! She is even very obedient when she has her coat on and the gentle leader around her nose. Just earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate. But, whoa, when she's around the house, ayayay, does she make up for it. Now 9 months old, the trouble she can find is amazing! Finds mom's socks, clean and dirty, brushes, hair scrunchies, shoves them in her mouth and off she goes - room to room - galloping, prancing, around the house showing off. We still are not allowed to run and jump together for another two weeks so I know she is just missing me. But soon! And guess what? Mom has been emailing the puppyraisers of two of Simi's sibs: Sloane and Sabina. They are all doing the same misbehaviors!!! So much for nature vs. nurture. I'd skip that epigenetics stuff in the first paragraph if I were you. At least in the canine thinking/feeling brain.
