NOTE FROM NANCY ::

Dear <Greeting/>,

Hello to October 2009Here in South Florida, we have made it through hurricane season with just one month to go! Yay! The weather has gotten less humid, almost cool.  Well, not really cool – how about down to 86 degrees?   Meanwhile I managed to enjoy the heat in as many ways as possible: walking early in the mornings, loving the warm waters of the ocean and the gorgeous beaches so nearby, appreciating each little breeze that would waft over me and appreciating how moist my skin stays from the humidity.  Well we can have gratitude for the small things, can't we?...

The theme this month is LIMITING BELIEFS, which I truly love.  No, I do not love the pain-in-the-neck, annoying beliefs we have, but I enjoy the process of finding out what your limiting beliefs are, working to help change them, watching them disappear and getting a move on with Your future!   I'm going to be explaining more thoroughly what they are, how they inhibit our progress and movement forward in our lives, and how they have kept many people from succeeding to what they truly desire.  Conversely, having No belief about what you can or can't do could enable you to go wherever you desire.  Wayne Dyer says  when you believe it you see it (compared to most people say "I'll believe it when I see it.")

Remember Roger Bannister?  A British runner, he became the first person to break the 4-minute mile.  At the time, in 1954, it was seen as astonishing in the face of what was a strongly held belief.  But within the following 12 months of his race, dozens of athletes went on to break the 4-minute mile that had been broken.  Bannister broke the belief in the limit of a human's ability to run at this pace - and then he opened a floodgate.  Bannister's record stood a scant six weeks before John Landy of Australia ran the mile in three minutes and 58 seconds. At present, the current world record is three minutes and 43.1 seconds.  What was once thought to be impossible is today commonplace.

FEATURE ARTICLE :: An Explanation About Limiting Beliefs

Limiting Beliefs — What are they?  They are the self-limiting things you believe about yourself that ultimately put limits on your abilities  (Beliefs are sometimes defined as thoughts you think over and over again until you convince yourself they are true!)  These can be conscious or unconscious thoughts.  This basically says that what you believe about yourself is what makes your life become what it is.  The Law of Attraction comes in here.  What you focus on is what you attract.  So… "I can't possibly earn $1,000,000 ever!!!" "In our family, we don't have that kind of wealth..."  " I'm fat, so no one will marry me..." These limiting beliefs put brakes on your progress.  You stop dead in your tracks.  And you cannot move beyond them. If you believe you'll be struggling, you will.  BUT… guess what?  You can rid yourself of these limiting beliefs! Four preliminary steps you can start right now:

  1. You identify them.  This means that you start to become mindful of the random thoughts floating around in your head, or you listen to something negative that you might say to someone in response to a fabulous idea or a great vision or goal!  Working with a coach can help you immensely to identify what's going on within that mind of yours.
  2. You write these items down into a list; e.g.,
    • "I'm too fat."
    • "I can't possibly earn that much money."
    • "There is no way I could have THAT many clients!"
    • "I'll never find the right mate for me."
    • "That chocolate cake will put 10 pounds on me instantly."

You could have 10 items or 200 items.  It matters not.  YOU know what your thoughts are doing to limit your progress.

  1. Then rate each statement for its truth, the strength of your belief of its accuracy.  Do this even if you know it's sort of stupid and NOT really true, it is your BELIEF of its truth you are looking for - the convictions you have about each one that keep you right where you are and not moving forward.
  2. Lastly... (and you know what's coming… ) you tap them away!!!!!!!, thought by thought.  What happens when you do this is that your list of 200 could possibly reduce even if you release only a few items.  You get the opportunity to examine your negative thinking, have a chance to FEEL what it is like to give yourself a break, start seeing the glass half full instead of half empty, and see the possibilities!  If you would like to try this exercise, and want some help, let me help, call me at (561) 401-9002, I'll be glad to assist you.  If you try this on your own, I would love to know how it turns out, so call or email me.

One last thing: You might wonder where did all these thoughts come from... how in the world did they ever get into your head, and how were you so sure they were right?  Possible places:  your family is typically the first place you learn "rules" of the world and sometimes your extended family - grandparents, aunts, uncles - passed down what each of them learned and believed.  We might recall unconsciously what people said to us and about us when we were growing up.  Other sources might be teachers, classmates, coaches, instructors, church or synagogue classes.  Being around negative people, watching television news - always bad news, scary news, threatening  stuff, listening to talk radio (nearly always provocative and negative), reading negative books, newspaper articles, song lyrics — the list goes on!

NANCY'S TAPALONG™ :: Clearing Limiting Beliefs

Okay, my re-request... will you consider taking a rating of your level of fear or worry or scarcity, 0-10, so you can see your improvement after tapping.  If your rating does not go down, or even goes up, tap again a few rounds. If still no change, give me a call for a free 30" consultation (949) 675-0509, or my new Florida number (561) 401-9002.  I'm glad to help!

2 Rounds – Tap 5-7 times on each of the 8 places (Inner Eye, Outer Eye, Under Eye, Under Nose, Middle of Chin, Collar Bone, Under Arm, Top Of Head) continually and say the following at each place:

Setup Statement (tapping on karate chop place or sore spot)

  • Even though I have these limiting beliefs that keep me from moving forward, and know that I have them and maybe they aren't always true,  I accept myself and I accept my feelings anyway.
  • Even though these limiting beliefs may be keeping me stuck from having what I want, and even though I'm not clear about what all of them are, I choose to allow myself to be more accepting of me and of my limiting beliefs about _         (fill in the blank)____
  • Even though I have had these beliefs for a long time, and they taught them to me, so what else was I to think? I now allow myself to consider releasing and letting them go.

Round 1 (inner eye, outer eye, under eye, etc.)

  • IE: I hate knowing that I have so many things holding me back
  • OE: It is ridiculous that I can't just do what I want to do
  • UE: Why would I allow these limiting beliefs to keep me so stuck?
  • UN: Maybe this belief that ____(fill in the blank)____ has really kept me from achieving my life goals and visions
  • MC: I wonder whether I might let some of this annoyance with myself go a bit here...
  • CB: How might it be to start challenging some of my strongly held beliefs that have not served me very well?
  • UA: Maybe I can just be easier on myself and be less judgmental of me
  • TH: I can be more patient with myself about these things

Round 2

  • IE: I wonder if I can really be more easy with myself
  • OE: Maybe I can make up new beliefs that are not so limiting!!
  • UE: Maybe I can remember that there is abundance all around me, just by looking at nature!
  • UN: I can see vast blue skies, or clouds, or rain, or morning sun, or evening moon and see how consistent all of them are.
  • MC: Maybe I've forgotten to appreciate what shows up in my life daily and regularly
  • CB: Maybe I can take a nice deep breath here and begin to relax (go ahead and take a breath now)
  • UA: It can feel so good when I just let myself release more here
  • TH: I love knowing that I can shift my energy and bring more freedom to me

NAOMI'S NOOK :: Another Surgery Down!

Well, hi everyone.  My hind right knee has been cut and stitched up and stapled and unstapled and I've  taken my drugs, and  been lying around for a month now.  Poor me.  I'm so  sick of it all, but I'll be the Bionic Dog very soon once I get to jump into the ocean, fly to catch tennis balls... and generally have fun again!  I'm visioning all of this, using the Law of Attraction, of course.  I've had my second TPLO and will be good as new in about a month more.  All my canine and human kid friends in my  neighborhood have promised to wait for me.  Meanwhile, Simi has  been doing not so fine without me...

Remember, she is now an 8-month-old CCI puppy that Nancy is puppy-raising and she continues to get into her troubles and mischief.  For instance, the other day she had 4, count them, 4 "hair scrunchies" in her puppy mouth.  There she is, running around the house with the look that says: "look what I have", which no one particularly cares about.  She's just a silly show-off and I can't play with her, which I hate a lot.  Nancy says Simi depended on me to play and run in the back yard and we both got lots of exercise that way.  Now she has more puppy, naughty energy  because we don't play.  Nope, not for another month or so... Oh! I get to go for my physical therapy - swimming in the pool two times a week — Big deal.  It's NOT the ocean, for sure.  SO, not much else is new around here and as you can imagine, I'm a pretty  bored Labrador. But wait!  I am reminded of how  grateful I am for all the dog abundance in my life!  And I choose to release all these 'poor me'  limiting beliefs!!! For the wonderful dog food I'm fed twice a day, for the really great treats I'm offered often, for the silly dog that I am and for all the love that I am able to offer being as sweet a dog that I am...  (smile)
