The following are organizations that I care about, that are truly near and dear to me, and are deserving of your support:

WWW.AIDSORPHANSRISING.ORG Every 14 seconds a Child Headed Household (CHH) is formed. There will be 100 million AIDS orphans by 2010 – that’s two years away! There is a wonderful book by Sister Mary Elizabeth Lloyd, M.P.H., Ed.D. A positive and uplifting report and solutions to this grave and desperate world problem

WWW.HEALINGBRIDGES.COM Healing Bridges was founded to help women and children in the poverty-stricken and war-torn African nation of Eritrea. Their mission is to create jobs in Africa to support themselves and their families.

WWW.BESTFRIENDS.ORG Angel Canyon in Utah is the home of Best Friends – a miracle of nature. For thousands of abused and abandoned animals, what happens here every day is a miracle of love. Thousands of animals have come here for special care from shelters and rescue groups all over the country. Visit this place. I have, and it’s wonderful!

WWW.SMILETRAIN.ORG The free cleft palate surgery for children all over the world – each costing $250 – is done by physicians and their medical teams to offer this wonderful service. It might be the most effective, impacting donation to a charity you every make. Absolutely 100% of your donation goes towards programs that help children and 0% to overhead.

WWW.HSUS.ORG (Humane Society of United States) This is the nation's largest animal protection organization with more than ten million members and constituents. It is a mainstream voice for animals, with active programs in companion animals, wildlife and habitat protection, animals in research, and farm animals.

WWW.WOMENFORWOMEN.ORG During the last 14 years they mobilized more than 120,000 women to change their lives by providing them with direct aid, job skills and leadership training, rights awareness education and small business development. They work in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Colombia, Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda and Sudan.

WWW.GALAPAGOS.ORG I was so privileged to visit the Galapagos Islands in May of 2007 and was enthralled and enchanted, to say the least. Untouched and unspoiled, these islands protect the most amazing species of animals, birds, plant life unique to the area. Galapagos Conservancy, formerly known as Charles Darwin Foundation, Inc., advocates for the lasting protection of the Galapagos Islands.

WWW.CHILDRENSCAN.ORG As a Board Member at Large, this nonprofit all volunteer group has as its mission to help improve the quality of life of children and their families who are affected by catastrophic injury or illness.  How we help is to provide funding, resources and services in such areas as equipment, help at home, computers, transportation to physician or other appointments.

WWW.AMRT.NET/SB/SB.HTM This is a great small dog (and cats) rescue group out of Long Beach who accepts strays and those picked up on the streets. They take care of vet bills and have foster homes where they stay until they are adopted. I had Daisy, an 11-month-old cutie, 23-pound mix for December and January and there are lots of other dogs awaiting adoption. Donations are gratefully accepted by the group.
